awakening
out and about collecting the eggs
out and about for an evening stroll
late evening light
I took a walk around the garden today on my way from collecting the eggs in the evening. I was out to work early and the ladies were not finished laying so I took another check in the afternoon. There was 7 lovely eggs. We have 16 hens and get between 7 and 12 eggs everyday. We eat a lot of eggs.
Anyway, it is fascinating to see the plants, the trees and the birds awakening to spring. Much of the snow is gone in barely three days. Last year we had a similar melt down but it happened a couple of weeks earlier. We won't be seeing any leaves on the trees for at least three to four weeks, but at least I will soon be able to walk in the forest again.
rhubarb!
blackcurrant buds ready for spring
The river is open in the middle and there are swans basking in the sun on the ice. I am guessing that in about a week to 10 days the river will be free of ice. The rhubarb has already started to sprout. It is such and amazing plant, rhubarb, so hardy and thrives so well at our latitudes with long winters and cool summers. It must be one of my favorite things to pick, fresh rhubarb to heat up with a little bit of sugar to put on my oatmeal.
This weekend is the national day in Norway. We are planning on eating a lot of ice cream and cake. It has been a busy couple of weeks and it is going to be really nice to just take it easy and eat good food.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend friends. Make time for what brings you joy.
"Maybe the journey is not about
becoming anything.
Maybe it is about unbecoming
everything that is not really you, so
that you can be who you were meant
to be in the first place"
~ Paulo Coelho
